The speed pedelec is a moped in the sense of the Highway Code: mandatory registration and license plate, moped insurance, approved helmet, rearview mirror — and prohibition of cycle paths in urban areas unless locally authorized. Is a license required? No specific B license: the BSR / AM license is sufficient (mandatory for those born after 1988). An approved helmet (ECE 22.05/22.06 or NTA 8776 standard) is mandatory.
